Application Ops Engineer: Chicago to $70,000

Our client is seeking a Full time Application Ops Engineer who is passionate about problem solving and technology.   • Work closely with vendors and other internal IT teams (Network, Security, ERP) in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Analyze bugs and issues in our production environment for managed platforms. Work on resolutions and effectively troubleshoot production issues in a time-bound manner.
  • Manage, support, and analyze bugs found in production for various systems; logging those bugs and support issues to help identify patterns and potential system enhancements
  • Establishes standards, tools and procedures for supporting applications.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation of processes, procedure guides, user guides, and other training materials.
  • Experience with eCommerce, Content Management and Product Information Management systems is a plus.

Skills & Requirements

  • DB Experience: Solid SQL skills is a must.
  • Experience with Web Technologies: Ability to navigate and understand code and monitoring tools.
  • Quality Assurance: Actively participate in quality assurance, including hands-on system and user testing of the software developed.
  • Implementation and Support: Software deployments and ongoing software support.
  • Customer Focused: Deal directly with both internal and external customers to solve their issues.
  • Collaborate: Ability to work across teams, including development, network, security and business users to create solutions for our customers.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze existing software and bump that up against the client request/issue is critical. The ability to efficiently problem-solve for that client request is absolutely critical.

iSeries Project Leader: Oak Brook: $120,000

Job Description: iSeries Project Leader – AS400 – RPG ILE – Free Format – Web Services

The Project Leader is responsible for all stages and types of IT projects and initiatives from proposal and requirements definition to project planning and implementation along with project cost and budget management. This position will proactively interface between internal and external customers and the technical/programming staff to ensure effective definition and the delivery of business applications. This position reports to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, development and delivery of quality business applications is the key object for this role.
  • Lead design and review sessions with development team, business partners management
  • Review and assess vendor solutions and proposals
  • Manage multiple, parallel projects using formal project management methodologies
  • Maintain project controls that accurately reflect completed work against project plans, schedules and budgets, and ensure user/management involvement at appropriate milestones
  • Manage application design through the various life cycle stages from business need through design and delivery
  • Manage project priorities, scope, budgets, timelines and expectations
  • Develop project documentation and training materials where applicable
  • Provide technical support and assistance as necessary
  • Enforce best practices and implement policies and procedures for compliance and to ensure company wide consistent standards
  • Provide management with regular communication on the progress of projects and other initiatives
  • Responsible for recommending staffing plans and skill sets on a per project basis
  • Coordinate intradepartmental projects and resources

Experience/Qualifications Include;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of iSeries experience as well as RPG ILE, Free Format, CLP, Web Services, REST, SOAP, HTML, XML, PHP, JSON, Message Brokering
  • 8+ years demonstrated project leadership experience from a technical perspective
  • Results-oriented professional who is a self starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong management skills
  • Demonstrated success of establishing, managing and maintaining effective working relationships at the management level, internal and external to an organization
  • Strong leadership, teaching and mentoring skills
  • Critical thinking, strong analytical skills and problem solving ability

iSeries Senior Programmer Analyst (AS/400 – RPG – ILE): Oak Brook, IL

The iSeries Senior Developer is responsible for the technical stages of IT projects and initiatives from proposal and requirements definition to project planning and implementation. This position will proactively interface with internal customers and the technical/programming staff to ensure effective definition and the delivery of business applications. This position requires the ability to manage all aspects of small to medium size projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities Include:

-Ability to develop solutions in RPG ILE, Free Format, and CLP

-Design, develop and deliver quality technical solutions for business needs

-Work closely with Director of IT, Application Development Managers, Project Managers and other IT associates to develop solutions

-Participate in design sessions and review sessions with technical and business teams with an enterprise focus on solutions

-Recommends and implements technical solutions for approved projects

-Identifies new applicable technologies and solutions

-Create estimates and manage against project designs and budgets

-Provides technical support and troubleshooting as needed

-Develop technical documentation to support development activities

-Provide management with regular communication on the progress of projects and other initiatives

Experience/Qualifications Include:

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

7+ years working in an iSeries environment
